I got my first Rosca from here, it was amazing. Totally worth the prize! The fruit was so fresh, the bread so tasty, and the filling was delicious. This will definitely be my go to for Roscas!
My daughter, a trained culinary expert, opened the box and gasped at the beauty of the cake I bought her for her birthday. Then we cut it and it tasted better than it looked. Awesome! How do you get better than that? I read the mixed reviews, the claims of dissatisfied customers and frankly, I don't believe them. The girl who was minding the shop was sweet and friendly. She customized the cake as I watched and it was perfect. The place was clean and charming. The French look to the decor was perfect. The cakes looked amazing. I guess if you want a cheap cake, go to Walmart. If you want an amazing cake, go to La France.
This is essentially a panaderia that sells fancy cakes and cookies too. The bakery is very spacious and they sell coffee as well; a cooler in the back displayed boxes of strawberries and a few lonely-looking sodas. They probably started life as a French bakery, but the goods now are decidedly Mexican. The traditional Mexican panaderia pastries (cake in pastry; custard in pastry; cinnamon elephant ears; buns with sugar topping, etc.) are supplemented with fancy cakes sold by the piece (Oreo tres leches - hmm!), chocolate-covered strawberries, and fancy frosted cookies. Grab your tray and tongs and go to town. They also do event cakes; while I was there some people were negotiating details for an event for 150 people. Prices are reasonable; 99 cents for the panaderia goodies and $2.99 per fancy slice of cake (1 piece serves two unless you're starving - they're pretty rich). It's right next to a parking lot but the lot is metered.
